Loaded Dice - warm

Loaded Dice are newcomers to the Lo:Rise ranks and fast-rising stars in house music. The ‘It’s Alright EP’ is a fine way to introduce yourself; the title track shimmers with liquid funk and echoing layers of vocal interjections, while ‘Warm’ lives up it’s its name with prominent keys, clattering percussion and the very warmest bassline you’re likely to hear for a while.

Life And Death - Step Aside

The Visionquest label kicks off 2012 in style with a spellbinding release from the dream team that is Tale of Us & Thugfucker AKA Life and Death. Step Aside is a two track of stupendous sonic skullduggery. The hottest label to come into inception this year, Visionquest has surprised, beguiled and enthralled us with some of the most celebrated releases from the some salubrious artists and producers. Here we welcome back Tale of Us alongside cohorts Greg Oreck & Holmar Philipsson Thugfucker. Here they also rope in the vocal talents of Scott McCloud. The A side Step Aside (Lightweight) is a fantastic slice of laconic lazy house with growling, pulsing bass line gradually turning more and more analogue and acidic as the warm enigmatic omnipresent pads infuse Scotts snarling dismissive vocals as he makes himself at home, in the USA! On the flipside and Morgana is of equal stature. A darker, hallucinogenic journey, a jacking groove underpins the bubbling disengaged playful synth line that becomes more and more twisted and hallucinatory finally giving way to a volley of great disco fills. What a great two tracker. Life and Death have recently remixed PillowTalk, No Regular Play and Gus Gus. The Tale of Us half of Life and Death are no strangers to Visionquest releasing the pivotal Dark Song EP earlier this year and the anthemic Winds of Change. Thugfucker, have been producing music for many years on labels such as Brique Rouge, Music For Freaks, and their own Thugfucker Records, but most notably on the impeccable Italian based label Life And Death. This great pairing have produced a great release for Visionquest, with both tracks soon to be remixed by Carl Craig and Jamie Jones, for release in the new year.. Wooohooo!

Viadrina - It’s Ok EP

Viadrina aka. Mateusz Kazula & Konrad Ślazyk is a production duo based out of Poland have just released their newest "It’s Ok" EP via Berlin based imprint Klasse Recordings. The title track on the EP is a definite standout, a beautifully deep track full of all sounds I love, smooth vocals, a soft rhythmic melody, slightly haunting ambient sounds, and wonderfully deep bass. Do You Really Want This? is another great deep, though more pumping track from the duo which gets some dandy remixes from the likes of Kool Dek, and Florian Blauensteiner.

and here is a two months old track, that still rocks!

Darkside - Darkside EP

Nicolas Jaar's sideproject with Dave Harrington.

Stunning new project from Nicolas Jaar and co on his Clown & Sunset imprint.
As you descend the staircase into Darkside's Brooklyn studio, the cement walls pulse slightly faster than your heartbeat. Entering the converted apartment, the first thing you notice is the symmetry of Dave Harrington’s appearance. In the low light, his matte-black shirt and jeans form negative space between the shine of his boots and his shock of red hair. He holds the guitar, which bisects his body, with equal parts tenderness and lust. When he plays, he whips the rhythm with soprano licks and a steady baritone. Behind Dave, an opaque figure controls the percussion and the bass line. I watch them manipulate the reticent groove until the silhouette steps into the microphone’s aura and delivers a falsetto. The atmospheric relief reveals Dave’s accomplice to be Nicolas Jaar. Together, they are DARKSIDE.

During a break from the rehearsal, we sink into a crushed velvet loveseat and listen to their self-titled debut. The EP begins innocently enough. But as you progress into the tracks, entitled “A1,” “A2,” and “A3,” it feels like searching for pleasure where you know you shouldn’t. The beat in this clandestine affair has just enough restraint. By the time DARKSIDE concludes, you know the catharsis is worth the sin.

Noir & Richard Davis - Found Out

This is the follow-up single to the huge club-hit “Noir & Haze - Around” from 2011.
This time Noir teamed up with Berlin-based Richard Davis for his beautiful vocal work and the result are just as emotional, heartfelt and dark as the first single “Around” is. Noir has once again turned a blind eye to the trends, kept his own style/sound and created something outstanding for the electronic music lover.

Get Down Edits Vol.2

Get Down Edits is a new series from Irish dj and producer Daz Dalton.
On this second EP offering we get edits and reworks from Get Down Edits, Deep & Disco and 78 Edits.

"Get Down Edits - Hang On" is a slo-mo / beatdown house take on "Hang On To Your Love" by Sade, which works a treat as the diva's tracks are down in the bpm department anyway.

"Deep & Disco - Tribute" is a looped-up take on another 80s tune. The rare groove styled anthem "Tribute (Right On)" by Pasadenas.

"Get Down Edits - Do For Love" is a slo-mo refix of "What You Won't Do For Love" by Bobby Caldwell, originally released in 1978 on Clouds label.

"78 Edits - Get Down Baby" prepares you for some mid-tempo chop-loop-filter disco-soul vibes. A top winter season choice for your dj-bag!

The Gomma All Stars feat. Peaches - Casablanca Reworks

Four songs from the legendary Casablanca records catalogue reworked by the Gomma All Stars and the fabulous Peaches..
Moullinex, Telonius, Munk and The Phenomenal Handclap Band did four new interpretations of classic tracks by Donna Summer & Giorgio Moroder, Skatt Brothers, Stephanie Mills and from the Flashdance soundtrack!
For the project they needed a very special vocalist, who they believed had the right understanding of history, the perfect dirty approach and enough soul. They found her in the former Canadian Peaches.

Zola Jesus - In Your Nature (David Lynch Remix)

Los Angeles based Zola Jesus aka. Nika Roza Danilova had a banner 2011 with the success of her album, "Conatus," which landed on many tastemakers' year-end lists and set the stage for a potential breakout in 2012. And four days into the year, Zola Jesus has received an impressive co-sign with the release of a David Lynch remix of her song "In Your Nature."
Zola Jesus has never been a huge fan of remixes in general. But when the legendary filmmaker David Lynch bites on the hook you must strike.
The original version of the song features tense strings and a rumbling bass, and floats along on the back of Zola's increasingly confident voice. David Lynch strips away nearly everything the double-time rhythms, the synthetic hand claps, the vast arrangement and replaces it with a simpler structure, one that leaves her voice front and center and augments it with a moody guitar strum.

MAM – Modern Heat EP

MAM is a name you may have heard over the past 12 months, and if you haven’t, you will do. Miguel Campbell and Matt Hughes have been behind some of the most influential underground disco tracks of the past two years, released a number one album through their Outcross Records imprint and recently signed to Wolf & Lamb’s Black’ with the huge ‘Bedroom Dancer’. 2010 also saw Miguel Campbell join Jamie Jones’s ‘Hot Creations’ crew, dropping some huge Beatport hits, "Baby I Got it" and "Something Special". Modern Heat EP is out on FINA records on the 30th January.

Title Track 'Modern Heat' rolls out the up-tempo baseline with claps and hats punching the track along the lines while

"Crushed Ice" is a cool disco-house slice of funk, taking influence from our Franco friends across the channel giving the nod to the early Crydamoure Productions of yesteryear...slow, sly and groovy.

"Sunset Funk" does exactly what it says on the tin. A euphoric disco number that makes you forget about the cold and think of those lazy summers.
