Chamboche - Smoke Screen EP

London based Welshman Chamboche returns to the label that launched him with the Smoke Screen EP. His unquantifiable sound swerves genre classification, hovering around house but with enough musicality to please the hardened disco head. Swirling pads and a bubbling bass line set down the groove, while keys fall around horns and vocals to make the lead track a refined, uplifting work out. Slowly unfolding, the track is hypnotic and absorbing, showcasing the style of a producer as able to work the mind as the hips. Bicep toughen up the drums and work the arpeggio, stripping down the track and bringing the Chicago influence higher in the mix. While the original subtly unfolds, their remix demands attention from the outset, building to a climax then recoiling for another bite at the cherry. Thinking big, KRL ramps up the intensity with a bright, kinetic reworking. Aimed squarely at the peak time, he harnesses all of Smoke Screen's most propulsive elements to really work the floor. Tucked away on the B side is the expansive Mind Your Mind. Trademark Chamboche percussion is woven around a blissful riff, swelling majestically to round off the EP in slo(w) burning euphoria.

Satin Jackets preserve their reputation for delivering infectious dance floor tracks with "How Long Can I Wait For Your Love", producing echoes of Robin S’ ‘Show me Love’, which it undeniably has shown and much more. With heavy influence from the likes of Madonna, Roxy Music and Trevor Horn, the trio looks certain to be fiddling with a number of immortal tunes throughout the year.

Terranova - Question Mark feat. Tomas Høffding (KiNK Mix)

Like no other project originating from that stylistic jungle that became known as the Nineties, Terranova has shown a strong focus besides genre definitions, with studio members Fetisch and &ME being true wanderers between worlds and times, holding 2012's dance floor in a tight choke. There's certainly a bassdrum beating in their chests, and even the elegic strings from "Question Mark", that beautifully sung intro to Terranova's latest album "Hotel Amour", can barely hide a core made out of pure sweat and beats. The remixers assigned to "Question Mark" saw that too, and that's why they don't try to reinvent the wheel but keep it rolling: KiNK adorns his rework with the massive, yet elegant boldness he's become known for, and one has a hard time imagining the "Tiger from Sofia" sitting calmy in a chair while producing. Running around town with a big red "K" on his t-shirt, we're convinced that KiNK is in fact a secret super hero saving crowds from desperation and ye olde rave from heavv traffic. He doesn't just produce, he kicks the ball out of the park on a regular basis. That's also where we meet Adam Port, noted for his unique take on raw hypnotic house and label fellow to &ME over at Berlin's infamous Keinemusik outfit. Just as KiNK, Adam didn't want to do without the original's bittersweet vocals courtesy of WhoMadeWho's Tomas Høffding, and - knowing his way around the house pretty damn well - wraps them in percussive bliss sure to have many an adventurer getting completely lost in sound. Welcome to the Bermuda triangle.

Sam Sparro - I Wish I Never Met You (Azari & III Remix)

I have previously blogged The Magician remix of Indie-electro star Sam Sparro's single "Happiness" now it is time for the next single “I Wish I Never Met You” and this time in a Azari & III remix. "I Wish I Have Never Met" might not be a instant disco bomb like "Happiness", but with a remix from Azari & III it’s sure to get some club traction. The single is the out on 4th June and is the first taken from his forthcoming album, "Return To Paradise" (released on 11th June)

Lovebirds Feat Novika - This Time (Gorge Remix)

Hailing from Germany, Lovebirds has rapidly become a name synonymous with the finest neo-disco house, through a distinct style that leans heavily towards the sound of the 80’s with a modern funk twist. His next single ‘This Time’, alongside vocalist Novika is no exception and includes wicked remixes from Gorge and Tiger Stripes.

Lovebirds heads down the melancholic musical avenue with ‘This Time’, combining luscious synth lines with crisp beats, disco infused stabs and of course, the beautiful voice of Novika. On the remix, Gorge provides a nod towards the sound of the 90’s, stripping it back for a bass driven beauty. For those that prefer their beats, there is also a Dub Mix from Gorge. Completing the package, Sweden’s Tiger Stripes shakes the original up with the melodies taking centre stage.

Karin Park - Restless

Swedish electro-goth princess Karin Park has announced the release of her highly anticipated album ‘Highwire Poetry’ on the 28th May. Following the release of her UK debut last September with critically acclaimed EP ‘Tiger Dreams’, Karin Park is a new name to many outside of Scandinavia, while at home Karin has already picked up two Norwegian Grammy’s and recently supported Azari & III and SBTRKT on their European tour dates.

Karin’s unique blend of moody electronica, dark yet hooky choruses and her spell-binding voice all showcase her passion for industrial, experimental 80’s pop and the electronic sounds of today’s club-land; with early R1 supporters including Zane Low, Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Rob De Bank and Giles Peterson.

Recorded with producers Barry Barnett and Christoffer Berg (Fever Ray, The Knife) the album explores Karin’s fascinations with spirituality, sexuality, power, love and hate. Removed from the world as a child living in a remote Swedish town, Karin’s deeply religious upbringing and experiences, including a three year stint in a Japanese missionary school, have provided her with a distance from reality, allowing us to see the world anew through her eyes on this album.
Live, Karin has proved she’s a forced to reckoned with; her captivating beauty, standing tall at 6ft 3” like an Amazonian electro-gothic warrior, her vocals range from pop to opera and her effortless fluidity of intense vocal performance is accompanied by raw musicianship as Karin graces the keys of analogue synths and struts a white 80’s inspired Keytar across the front of the stage while her Viking drummer of a brother David Park kicks out the dark rhythmic beats on of the songs. Karin’s live sets are undeniably electrifying, pushing musical boundaries and encapsulating what it is to be a truly modern artist while dodging any approaching pigeon-holes.

Martin Brodin - Strings Attack

Second single from the forthcoming album of Martin Brodin. Mixes from Headman and Ilya Santana. Martin Brodin’s second single from the forthcoming album which is due for June 2012. It follows the successful Badabing which featured diskJokke as remixer. Strings Attack is all about the strings for disco. Ok, now you may think he gone all cheesy here, but that’s totally wrong. It still have the funkyness and groove it needs to be a full-fledged disco anthem in our ears. And we invited two of the most prolific producers out there to make this a rock solid release. Switzerland’s finest, Headman (Robi Insinna), who we all know from his own Relish label and releases on Gomma. He turn the original to an uber-cool bass-laden track and makes it a bit more “in-your-face” to speak, while the original is a bit more freestyle. Second out is Spanish born Ilya Santana with his funky mellow take. It’s a perfect remix for those beach parties we all love. Ilya is one of the most respected ones in the scene with releases and remixes for label such as Nang and Eskimo.

PillowTalk – Soul Edits

Wolf + Lambs' San Fran trio Pillowtalk join the W+L Black edits crew, serving up tastefully housed-up reworks of soul gems. First up they get the scissors out on Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell's late 60s soul anthem "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing", turning it into an extended, chugging disco-soul bomb. Next up is Bobby Hebb's version of the classic "Sunny", this time with the simplest of house beats added, making this an essential for Marcy Hotel nights. Lastly the Festivals' super-slow soul smoocher "You've Got The Makings Of A Lover" gets seriously pepped-up, with BPMs pushed towards peak-time dancefloor action.

Copycat - Disco Thang (Lou Teti Remix)

"We welcome fellow Swede Copycat (Ivan Matanovic) to the MB Disco family. He has made himself a a respected name in the Soundcloud sphere where he shared some of his great remixes of acts like Depeche Mode and Radiohead, just to name a few. He’s also one of the masterminds of the hyped music blog http://www.audioporncentral.com."

He sent us Disco Thang a while ago and the track grew every day we listened to it in the office. We simply couldn’t let it pass, said and done, it got signed and now we’re here. It’s a slomo track with a twist of a belearic feeling topped with a nice piano hook. The remixes we got comes from USA and Italy in terms of Lou Teti and Ajello. Lou got hold of a funky bass and added his magic touch. He kept the coolness but added a bit of disco funk to it to make it more for the floor. And with the Ajello remix we complete the package with his old-skool acid-deep house-disco touch. We can’t be more than very pleased of course with this release. pleased of course with this release.

The pair’s "This Is Now EP" blasts us into 2012, a bold and edgy step-change for Real Tone off the back of vintage, Stateside-vibed After All (with Mandel Turner). Gritty opening number Hustling Peoples keeps things on edge; just as they should be. Manuel Tur - Back To Me

Manuel Tur returns to Freerange and releases his Back to Me EP on Freerange Records as a precursor to his forthcoming album Swans Reflecting Elephants, out April 23rd. The hollow percussion groove and naked electric piano are bountifully filled by a warm synth and saddened melodic bassline that, along with a spacey female vocal sample, coalesce into an imbuing, breathing work on the first track, “Back to Me.” Jimpster remixes, deepening and energizing the bass, cooling the synth and adding more frequent, echoing elements to vitalize the title track’s movement. This new, invigorated pace sets the tone for the rest of the release, as “Obsidian” and Damiano von Erckerts Raw Dance Mix of that track finish the work off with an impressive intensity. The Raw Dance Mix is indeed raw–stripped back and with a much more engaged percussive line than the other tracks, which breath and open up significantly, will fervently penetrate a disco-dancer’s technosoul. Pure and simple a beautiful and moving release, add this one to your collection and be moved disco dancers.

Nhan Solo – I Wanna Be High

Lauer - Trainmann (Tensnake Franceman Mix)

Time to re-blog... Marco 'Tensnake' Niemerski is infuriatingly talented. Here, he shows off his capabilities with two vastly different remixes of Philip Lauer's "Trainman". First up is the "Franceman" mix, a sprightly, funk-fuelled disco-house take propelled by an insatiably infectious live bassline. It is, of course, tops. Next he attempts to reinvent trance (yes, trance) via the "Tranceman" mix - seven minutes of rush-inducing Balearic trance at a house tempo. It's actually excellent, coming on like a trance-inspired version of a classic Bobby Konders production (with, of course, Niemerski's cherished synth-xylophone riffs atop).

Burnski and MANIK – You Know What It’s Like

Two young talents Burnski and MANIK teams up once agian to produce release their latest single on Real Tone Records “You Know What It’s Like” is a deep slung groover..

Larsson - Just The Beat (Nicholas Remix)

"Just The Beat" is a bouncy little saunter through moog heavy house from Larsson, making no illusions to be anything other than a mood setting slice of goodness. It's backed with a well chosen remixes with Italian Nicholas further ensconcing himself in the swinging sound of 90s NY house.

Johanna Knutsson - Groove Support

Here it is the new release from Johanna Knutsson. An absolutely amazing 4 track EP, Groove Support released via Klasse Recordings is full of all kinds of niceness, the synths especially grab you. Dub Support is like its heavier/darker younger sibling and the two remixes released in support of the 2 tracks also kill. Sacha Robotti’s 19808 remix of Groove Support is spot on, easily one of the most ear pleasing tracks I’ve heard in sometime. Finally it’s complimented by Esther Duijn’s even darker take on the original Dub Support, creating a whole family of awesome tracks.
