Matthew Dear - Fighting Is Futile Remixes

As one of the stand-out tracks from his Beams LP, Matthew Dear's "Fighting Is Futile" falls prey to four very diverse remixes from friends new and old. Seth Troxler kicks off proceedings with a purposefully creepy take that plays off a horror-inducing synth line droning and tripping over a minimal shuffle to devastating effect. KiNK is in a more carnival mood, bringing an effervescent cocktail of drums to the main groove but also feeling confident in pulling the track down into stripped, bassline-and-vocal-only moments of drama. Benoit & Sergio are comfortably locked into a liquid funk with phasing bass and clean chords, while Dear's vocals come out through a distant vocoder. Laid Back finds a slow staccato groove over which to let undulating layers of acidic strangeness waft out, while also cheekily re-voicing the lyrics to a resolutely successful end.

Alex Flatner & Lopazz - Freedom Of My Heart (Him Self Her Remix)

Since early 2012, Alex Flatner and LOPAZZ (best known for the quality, avant-garde club music he's released on labels like Get Physical, Cocoon, Pokerflat) have been locked in the studio at every available opportunity creating what will be their debut artist album. Every once in a while an interesting taste of their creative juices emerges, the last being the mighty 'Our Love', which was released on Get Physical at the end of April. Now comes another exciting reason to get cheerful in the form of 'Freedom Of My Heart' on Circle Music.
Him Self Her have a reputation for producing house music with feeling. Few electronic artists have experienced such a meteoric rise into the spotlight as this male/female production duo consisting of Leon Baggotts & Claire Spooner, from the unlikely and not remotely hip, city of Leicester, UK. Their monster hit "Gone Too Long" took the Beatport charts by storm, catapulting them to the front of the pack and it's not hard to hear why here. Their love and respect for the whole history of classic house music gives them a musical palette that marks their remix of 'Freedom Of My Heart' out for immediate attention.

Mollono.Bass, Ava Asante - Traumtaenzer (Gorge Remix)

What happens if the low-pressure system Mollono.Bass meets an atmospheric high-pressure system named AVA Asante? It's the perfect storm of dance floor bliss! This spectacle of nature could be witnessed at the one or the other open air party during the last summer where it set the crowds into a dreamlike state of euphoria... Using his unmistakable organic groove, Acker Records bigwig Mollono.Bass lays the rhythmic foundations of Traumtanzer. Upon it, Ghanaian beauty AVA Asante plays her violin, building and building, getting ever more intricate and elegant, creating a fantastic crystal palace of sound. The perfect playground for Rene Bourgeois, who jumps up and down its bright corridors and halls, making the ground shake with his lively rhythms. Gorge sheds a warm summer sun upon this palace of sound: The subtle, ever growing build-up of his progressive housey version eventually erupts into rolling bass pressure and catchy chord sounds. Finally the Stereo Express remix departs towards dreamy, minimalist soundscapes, every now and then hit by a refreshing shower of metallic hi-hats.
